Catching up with family, watching the football, eating the food, buying things on impulse (sale reduced Logitech wireless desktop set).

Merry Christmas, everyone! [Dec. 25th, 2005|02:07 pm]
Happy Christmas (everyone keeps giving me looks for using 'happy'), y'all.

If only having minus money was a good thing. [Dec. 22nd, 2005|09:01 pm]
Christmas shopping is done and I have minus money. Oh well, I'll work it out in the new year.

Nothing really is going on at the minute. I've just been taking time off from everything - catching up with a few folk (English, Scottish, online) and that's about it. I should revise.. but it just isn't going to get done in the next fortnight so I'll take the time off and work hard when I get back.

MERRY CHRISTMAS (ALMOST) [Dec. 20th, 2005|11:09 am]
I've been very busy drinking, cavorting and observing giant monkeys so I've not updated my LJ in a few days. It's been fun, you've missed out.

London calling. [Dec. 17th, 2005|02:15 pm]
I'm back in London now. For a week or two until I go down to Dorset, and then it's back to Scotland.

I'm realising again how dreadfully expensive everything down here is. I've only been in town two days and I've spent loads just getting around and buying a few coffees! Oh well. It's nice to be back I guess. Yesterday was nice, certainly: I finished and sent Kaitlin's Christmas present, I met Christina for a coffee in town and went to the cinema. All in all a good day.

Watching too much TV, not doing enough work.

Dodging bullets.. [Dec. 14th, 2005|12:19 pm]
I switched out the old PSU for a replacement an hour ago... and thank the heavens as the new one works fine and there doesn't seem to have been any further damage.

Hooray! Hurrah!

Pain and anguish. [Dec. 13th, 2005|11:01 am]
My computer broke. There was a power surge and my PSU took the brunt of it. I don't know whether the motherboard died also - I pray not and I've heard good and bad stories. Nothing looks obviously amiss.

This is my first foray into hardware and it's a bloody nightmare, complicated by the fact that I have an odd chassis form factor and an even odder PSU. Repeated telephone calls eventually put me in touch with someone who has a replacement PSU though, and it'll arrive tomorrow morning.

If it works it's a £50 repair which I can deal with. If it doesn't then it's £50 wasted on a useless PSU and a new computer - which I really don't have the money for.

How can this be? [Dec. 11th, 2005|10:07 pm]
I still have no idea what to buy Kaitlin for Christmas! I'm usually the one that's good at this: in the past I've made a book, made a film, bought jewellery, all sorts... This year I really have no idea.

With university being so busy it's caught me by surprise, too. I need to get or make whatever it will be in the next two days!

I guess my mind will just have to keep ticking over until something comes up.

Some time to myself. [Dec. 10th, 2005|11:22 am]
It is clear that I am not quite back in 'the LJ zone'. This *will* be a longer post to make up for the days I've missed, I promise you. This assumes that I've been doing noteworthy things however... so it might not be!

I'm done with university for the year. Yesterday was my last day and this break will be a huge relief to all of the medical students. The amount of work we get is occasionally insane but constantly heavy and without a break it starts to get to you. You stop for just a moment to take a breather and you find yourself having to work three times as hard to catch up.

It's not particularly going to stop over Chrismtas either. There are no examinations in January but work starts up again. I need to spend this time revising the last ten weeks, and I'll probably end up doing the first ten weeks of first year too. We're assessed on everything we've done so far in each year's final examination.

I do enjoy the course though. It's a lot of work but not once have I truly not liked doing it. I'm more than happy to sit down in an empty library with a textbook and a notepad.

I need to do Christmas shopping today. I need to get Kaitlin her present (I have no idea what to buy), and my sister is becoming an obvious teenager and apparently needs a compact mirror. I'll go into Frasers or so and get a nice one. I have zero money, though. Well, a little but I have to be very careful. Going out this week three times didn't help!

Talking of Christmas presents, my wish list is exceedingly sad this year. At the moment it's just a physiology textbook. Woooooo! Exciting!

I'm going to see Rufus Wainwright in concert tonight but I keep thinking I'm going to miss it as I've not quite realised I'm going. I ought to get on that!

What a nice day! [Dec. 5th, 2005|11:45 pm]
So I finished my coursework early.... and I handed it in a day early too. This means I'm freaking out every five minutes thinking it might have been a dream.

Nice day: a few classes and DOOM (haha!) this evening.

Satisfaction. [Dec. 4th, 2005|09:09 pm]
My coursework is complete and it's not even due until Tuesday! Not a complete waste of the weekend, then. I'm quite pleased with it, too.

Nothing else happening in my life, at all!

Interlude. [Dec. 2nd, 2005|01:09 pm]
I'm home for my lunch 'cause I want to have an hour or two off before I get back to university and studying. I have coursework and PBL to do this weekend and it'll no doubt take ages. I'll try to get as much done tonight as I can on one or the other.

Looking forward to the holidays. I have to do a lot of work but I'll have more time than I do now.

I know there'll be a lot of tweaking to come, but with a new EP comes a new website:
